#48 of 101 things I love about living in Bridgenorth and the Kawarthas

Every spring we get the opportunity to enjoy locally made maple syrup. Last year was even more special when one of our neighbours tapped the trees lining his laneway. My son was eager to help collect the sap from the buckets while riding around the ATV. We got to see the production of maple syrup every step of the way. The best part was enjoying it on our pancakes. Yummy, yummy! Thanks, Greg.

Chemong Park. I really enjoy walking the dog in the early morning through Chemong Park. The homes are nestled on narrow streets among tall mature trees. These pictures are taken near the tall grass prairie restoration project. The conservation area has trails that take you through to the lake while hosting at risk species. I particularly like coming back here in the evening to sit on the park benches and watch the sunset over the lake. For more information, visit www.waterwaywildlife.com

Fish_fry

Living on the Trent Severn Waterway affords us 386 km of navigable boating on a healthy water system that allows us to take advantage of excellent fishing. These tasty fish were caught in the morning and fried up for our dinner that evening. The fillets were so fresh that they practically melted in our mouths! Kudos to my 10 year old who caught the lion's share of this haul. He's even learning the art of boning and filleting from our next door neighbour who's been catching his dinner for over 60 years on these lakes!
